Course Offerings
Chamber Choir
The Canfield High School Chamber Choir is a select SATB mixed-voice ensemble, who enjoy performing a wide variety of quality music. Students will be auditioned and selected according to their vocal ability, voice type, musicianship, and the ability to function at a higher level in the choral setting. Students will be provided with an intense study of proper vocal training and musicianship, and the prospect of performances are numerous. Students who study piano are offered the opportunity to advance their skills as accompanists.
One Octave
Higher Ensemble
The Canfield High School One Octave Higher Ensemble is a select SSA vocal group, who enjoy performing a variety of quality music of many styles and genres. Students will be auditioned and selected according to their vocal ability, voice type, musicianship, and the ability to function at a higher level in the choral setting. This is a soprano/alto treble choir. Students will be provided with an intense study of proper vocal training and musicianship, and the prospect of performances are numerous. Students who study piano are offered the opportunity to advance their skills as accompanists.
Concert Choir
The Canfield High School Concert Choir is a mixed chorus, welcoming all students in grades 9-12 who enjoy singing, which is practically everybody! Students do not need to possess exceptional voices, but the willingness to learn, grow, function in a large ensemble, and enjoy teamwork and comradery. Students will learn and expand upon their skills in sight-singing, musicianship, performing, and proper vocal techniques, all while being exposed to a variety of styles and genres of choral music. Students who study piano are offered the opportunity to advance their skills as accompanists.
Cardinal Chaos
Cardinal Chaos is unique ensemble experience in that it will prepare students for a more modern style of music (pop/rock/etc.) and that it will focus more on aural skills or hearing abilities rather than the ability to read music. There will be a concentration on vocal technique in this particular style, the art of performing, and will be fluid based upon the abilities of our members. This creative outlet will be the first of its kind at CHS so come and audition for this inaugural group!
Guitar 101
This course is intended for the beginning guitar student. Students will gain knowledge in tuning, playing, and caring for the guitar, as well as the ability to read music. Students will be exposed to a variety of music and guitarists. Acoustic guitars will be provided on loan, or students may use their own instrument.
